International Coffee Day takes place on October 1 every year. Making the daily journey from tropical Africa to the breakfast mugs of households all over the world, coffee beans have been scattered all over the world for more than 600 years, and their preparation for consuming is a great example of transformation.
Coffee has been made available in a variant range and is being used as drinks, candies, medicine, and some ancient civilizations even used it as currency! Some coffee lovers of the town share their reasons with Dr. Vaishali Agarwal, The India Rise Correspondent.
Andleeb Akram an office executive shares, “one of the most important character of coffee is its being the best stress buster. I love having a cup of coffee after a long tiring working day.”
Pooja Vig, MD of a hotel however loves holding the big coffee mug. She feels it as the status quotient along with her lemon coffee cup being a great weight loss remedy. She chirps, “In this pandemic roughness all around something that’s keeping me and my hubby going is our favourite coffee. Lethargy is the word when we are at home all the time since business is low. But bored with the regular cup I’ve replaced is with the lemon coffee that’s helping in preventing weight gain after munching almost all day long.
Jaya Agarwal, a home maker has a hangover of the smell of coffee. She quips, “For a coffee lover, there’s nothing more important than a cup of freshly brewed coffee right in the morning or afternoon. I love the Coffee with the goodness of spices! Cardamom that adds a rise to masala chai can be brewed with coffee for an aromatic brew that is for sure to relax you.”
On the health effects, Dr. Madhu Gupta says, “Coffee is one beverage which is known for is amazing health benefits but also infamous for leaving you dehydrated, if consumed too much. However it be those never-ending office hours or late-night exam preps, a cup of coffee can help us sail though it all.”
No matter how you take it, coffee can energize you, warm you up, refresh you, keep you awake, and even catch you up with your loved ones.
