Photographer Rajiv Suri is a perfect example of how taking Risks & Hardwork can lead to Success
WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY is celebrated all over on August 19. On the occasion we are taking our readers on a ride to the life journey of a well-known photographer of the town who had a very humble beginning. Rajiv Suri is a Self-taught Creative Photographer whose personal and commissioned work combine to make a varied and creative body of work. Working with a number of social and environmentally themed organizations, as well covering celebrity assignments, he has photographed a wide segment of the elite society.
Born in the year 19 into a family which had the legacy of Photography as its Traditional Family Business, his quest for perfection and technical knowledge took him to Mumbai and overseas where he got trained under various photographers and technical masters and image processing labs.
In a candid chit chat with The India Rise correspondent, Rajiv shares, “Nowhere is the 10,000 hour rule more applicable than photography. Since it takes atleast 10,000 hours of practice to excel, I am lucky to have started at an early age .I’m really privileged to see so many different sides of life, all thanks to my profession.” During my trips to Mumbai, Singapore, Germany in the 80s, I have visited some state of art studios, which inspired me to create a modern studio and a Hi-tech QSS Color lab chain in Northern India. It was by 1990 that I had been running a chain of Studios and QSS Color labs and was looking forward to more accomplishments in future journey.”
He acknowledges the fact that the famous photographer from Mumbai Hari Mahidhar inspired him. Rajiv’s contribution in fashion photography goes back to being the official photographer for various fashion weeks such as Wills India Fashion Week, as well as giving the portfolio shoots of the world famous celebrities as Priyanka Chopra and Disha Patani amongst other famous personalities.
His personal collection of work includes nine basic elements: Fire, wood, water, cloud, earth, flower, sun, moon, mountain and worship, Rajiv has created a niche for himself.
He has also restored , designed and Curated a Photo Gallery at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration ( LBSNAA ) , Mussorie and is also the official Photographer for the Annual Foundation Course Group Photograph.
To his credit are also the tags of being the official Photographer to the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad for the SESQUICENTENNIAL 2016 and Photographed the Kumbh 2019 officially for Prayagraj Mela Pradhikaran, Prayagraj.
Gifting his legacy to the upcoming generations, he now teaches these creative Skills to young students, Government Employees and trains them on how to use the new Tools in this World of Digital Era.
