Sanjeev Jindal – Travel the world on Two Wheels. World Cycle Day Special
The resolution for World Bicycle Day recognizes “the uniqueness, longevity, and versatility of the Bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport.
Today is World Bicycle day (June 3) and on the occasion, we introduce before our readers to Sanjeev Jindal, the cycle baba of Bareilly.
This 52 years youngster beats all in terms of his desire to chase his passion. Sanjeev was born on 6th September 1968 in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Talking about his early days he details, “My early childhood days were amidst hill beauties at Nagrota Baghwan, Dist Kangara. After some time, my family moved to Punjab and my father started his own business after leaving a government job.” In Punjab, he received his education from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial National Higher Sec. School and moved on to Dayal Singh College & Govt College, Chandigarh for higher studies. He completed his graduation in commerce from Bareilly College, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
Popularly known as “Cycle Baba” among the people of Bareilly, he is passionate about cycling along with living his other interests too. Besides being a Long Distance Cyclist, he is a Consultant, Backpacker, Writer, and Thinker with a vision to serve the needful and support the young students, especially studying in school. He is very famous on Facebook for his out of the box views about life, politics and younger generations.
On his work front, he has the experience of 25 years in Architecture & Civil Engineering and has worked as a Consultant of business houses like Nandan Brass Industries, Jamnagar, Gujarat & Firstech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bahadurgarh, Haryana.
He has constructed around 80 Homes as an independent builder & he also worked as Chief Project Manager in Kingston Estate, Alliance Builders and Contractors Ltd., Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, and presently he is the Director of Sulakshana Sanitary Emporium, Bareilly who are the distributors of various hardware and kitchen accessories.
His passion for cycling dates back in the year 2015 when he took out his bicycle and went for a ride. The emergence of the sun that day brought all the positive vibes and cycling became his first love. His sunrise pictures taken during daily cycling routine are mesmerizing.
His travel diaries by cycle include the Kachla Kanwar Yatra thrice, Purnagiri Devi Yatra twice, Nanakmatta twice, Nainital, Bhimtaal, and Naukuchiataal once. He feels the Nepal cycle trip was the most memorable of his life till date.
I enjoyed cycling while in Goa, Bali, Indonesia, and Thailand too. Speaking on his daily routine he shares, “My morning schedule involves cycling for around 30 kms daily and capturing natures beautiful screenshots with his camera. Once a week I target 60 kms and once in a month 100 kms. This year I plan to cycle upto Jaageshwar. The present aim of my life is to travel to Badrinath.”
